Origins 

In June 1952, five brothers, Frank, David, Tony, Joe and Mario, arrived in Fremantle from Madeira Island, Portugal. They started out fishing for Western Rock Lobster, then expanded into farming in Carnarvon. In 1963, they formally established Correia Fishing Co to fish the newly created Shark Bay Prawn Fishery.

Today

More than 70 years on, Correia Fishing Co is proud to be the last original operator still fishing the waters of Shark Bay, running a fleet of 23-metre vessels across the bay’s rich fishing grounds.

With over 50 years of experience on these waters, our name has become synonymous with freshness, quality, consistency and flavour — a reputation earned one catch at a time.

Our focus is on premium Western King Prawns and Brown Tiger Prawns, alongside Squid, Cuttlefish, Blue Swimmer Crabs, Moreton Bay Bugs, Scallops and a range of fresh fish. Every product is processed and snap-frozen at sea, locking in peak freshness the moment it’s caught.

For decades, Correia Fishing Co has supplied national and international markets, and in recent years, we’ve brought that same Shark Bay quality direct to the public through our seafood outlet in Fremantle. It’s a rare chance for West Australians to buy Shark Bay seafood straight from Shark Bay’s original fishing family.
